We will kick off the festival with our 6th Annual Dan Williams Local Tellers Competition (aka Amateur Night). You're sure to get a kick out of hearing about the shenanigans your friends and neighbors have gotten into over the years. The winner of this juried competition will take the stage again Thursday night, October 25, 2018.
Did you know the Athens Storytelling Festival offers special storytelling sessions for our community's students at no cost? Our Alabama legislators pay for the student tickets. Scheduled during school hours the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday before the festival, students will enjoy performances by our professional storytellers. School Days is open to all Tennessee Valley area schools and homeschoolers. At the request of our storytellers, appropriate ages to attend are grades 3–12 or ages 9-18. Seating is limited and reservations are required. The deadline for reservations is Monday, October 8.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org for information or to make reservations.
No, not the stuff your mom used to cook up biscuits with! The Storytelling Olio brings all our tellers together for a wonderful medley of stories. We will also present the winner of the 6th Annual Dan Williams Local Tellers Competition.
